Welcome to my worlds.

I joined the fire service at age seventeen, worked my way through the ranks, became a peace officer with oversight of the arson investigation program, and eventually retired as the State of California’s first female Chief of Fire Protection. Along the way, I earned a a bachelor’s in fire command, a law degree, and a master's in creative writing. Now, I live in the eastern front of the Sierra Nevada mountains with my husband and always a dog or two. And I write about fire, law, life ... and pickleball.​
